Job summary

Maize USD 266 is seeking a paraeducator to support deaf-blind students by facilitating communication and adapting activities under licensed staff supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • All Elementary Paraeducators must be Highly Qualified (48+ college hours or college degree or Highly Qualified Assessment).
  • Training program through Utah University and ISDB credential not yet completed or in progress.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt classroom activities and materials under licensed staff guidance to support objectives.
  • Facilitate communication for the deaf-blind student using tactile signing, object symbols, tactile symbols, and braille.
  • Administer basic first aid and assist medically fragile students under supervision.
  • Attend field trips and events to provide interpretation services for the deaf-blind student.
  • Participate in meetings to convey information related to job functions.
  • Instruct hearing-impaired students under teacher supervision to implement IEP goals.
  • Support and reinforce concepts from IEP-driven instructional plans.
  • Maintain instructional materials, records, and progress toward IEP goals.
  • Monitor students in multiple settings to ensure a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Rides school bus with students as needed to provide interpretation services.
  • Communicate with staff and support personnel to implement IEP objectives and progress.
