Qualifications

Position Overview

Employment Specialist – Northern NJ (Hudson and Essex County)

Shift: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (flexibility required for evenings & weekends)

About Us and Our Program

Easterseals, a national nonprofit with over 50 years of experience, offers person-centered employment services for individuals who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, or hard of hearing. Our program provides ASL-proficient support, workplace accommodations, and assistive technology to remove employment barriers.

Responsibilities
  • Assist clients in overcoming employment barriers, developing skills, and achieving vocational goals through job coaching and employability training.
  • Create and implement personalized employment plans using person-centered strategies.
  • Build and maintain employer partnerships; conduct outreach to promote hiring diversity and our services.
  • Provide on-the-job training, support, and counseling related to disability and workplace needs.
  • Represent the program at meetings, networking events, and conferences.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field + 1 year experience; AA degree + 2 years; or high school diploma + 3 years.
  • Experience: Knowledge of hearing loss and workplace needs; ability to address business requirements and evaluate job performance.
  • Requirements: Fluent in ASL; valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities; adaptable training approach; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
