GENERAL FUNCTION:

What is a De Novo? A De Novo is a new location that is being opened and staffed from the ground up.

As a De Novo Personal Banker, you are responsible for creating a great customer experience and growing a new branch from the ground up. Starting a branch with zero customers is a challenging and rewarding task! The Personal Banker focuses most of their time on developing new relationships over the telephone or in person, having great consultative conversations, and asking for referrals. They will also spend some of their time alongside the Financial Center Manager engaging in outside business development.

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate skills necessary to perform a role within the Retail Personal Banker job family. The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using the consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects. The role involves acquiring new households and/or deepening existing customer relationships through various activities, including lobby leadership and tele-consulting. This role is responsible for processing teller transactions and working as a member of the platform staff.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and following policies and procedures. Accountable for doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, ensuring actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build a thorough customer profile and identify current and future financial needs.
  2. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend appropriate solutions using our value proposition.
  3. Utilize CAMP and other approved marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for financial reviews.
  4. Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities such as community financial literacy events and business sales calls.
  5. Establish close working relationships with Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, Investment), referring customers when appropriate.
  6. Meet/exceed customer experience and individual/team production goals, contributing to revenue growth as measured by the Financial Center P&L.
  7. Guide Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) in the sales and referral process.
  8. Promote customer satisfaction with a friendly, helpful demeanor and professionalism.
  9. Answer customer questions confidently and own customer issues.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and trust.
  11. Follow the Bank's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other policies, maintaining ethical behavior.
  12. Adhere to policies and procedures while opening/servicing Retail products.
  13. Participate in the consumer loan and bankcard process, owning sourced loans from application to closing.
  14. Participate in opening/closing processes of the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  15. Stay updated on procedures to mitigate fraud and risk.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • College degree, work experience, or a combination thereof.
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  • Ability to develop comfort with sales activities to acquire or cross-sell customers.
  • Understanding of advanced math functions for credit and financial analysis.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Retail policies and procedures for sound decision-making.
  • Must be registered under the S.A.F.E. Act through NMLS at employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Extended viewing of computer screens.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
  • Travel outside the affiliate for classroom training.
