Job summary

Berkshire Family and Individual Resources is seeking a Direct Support Professional in North Adams, MA to provide comprehensive supports in a group home. You will assist with daily living tasks, personal care, housekeeping, cooking and recreational activities, helping residents achieve greater independence.

You will work closely with individuals to pursue personal goals, encourage community involvement, and support their chosen activities and interests in a respectful, person-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Min of 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma/GED or one year experience in a related field.
• Basic math (addition/subtraction) skills; ability to read & write.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively (verbal and written).
• Ability to multi-task and exercise good judgement.
• Willingness to complete background checks (CORI, SORI, Fingerprinting, LEIE, Driving record, E-verify, Physical, PPD and licensing/cert checks).
• Valid US driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Salary Range: $21.50 - $22.00 Hourly

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Direct Support Professional is primarily responsible for providing various supports to individuals with disabilities in a group home setting. The DSP assists individuals in all areas of daily living including personal care, housekeeping, cooking, and recreational activities. The DSP works closely with individuals to help them to become as independent as possible and to meet their own personal goals. Also assists individuals to find and participate in community activities they enjoy while encouraging community membership as well as pursuing individual interests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Min of 18 years of age. High School Diploma/GED or one year experience in a related field, must possess basic math (addition/subtraction) skills, ability to read & write, communicate effectively both verbally and written, ability to multi-task and exercise good judgement. Ability to complete all initial and ongoing background checks including but not limited to: CORI, SORI, Fingerprinting, LEIE, Driving record, E-verify, Physical, PPD and licensing and/or certification checks (i.e., nursing). Valid US driver’s license and ready access to a vehicle.
