Job summary

DEUTZ Corporation seeks a Machining Department Supervisor to lead day-to-day machining operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets are met. You will drive continuous improvement, train technicians, and identify remanufacturing opportunities in collaboration with Operations, Engineering and Quality.

The ideal candidate has a strong machining background, 5+ years of CNC experience, and a proven ability to lead through structure and accountability in a manufacturing

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of machining experience in CNC or engine component machining.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and methods.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily machining operations across all machining centers to meet production schedules.
  • Lead, coach, and develop machining technicians to build a strong and capable team.
  • Implement and sustain Lean practices such as 5S, standard work, visual management, waste elimination, and CI projects.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Planning on tooling needs, process improvements, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Maintain training programs for new hires, cross-training, and skill development in collaboration with leadership and the Training team.
  • Enforce safety policies and lead incident investigation and corrective actions.
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and new technology integration.
  • Maintain documentation, production records, and performance reporting with engineering, business intelligence teams
  • Identify and propose cost savings opportunities by determining which components can be remanufactured instead of replaced with new.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Quality to solve current issues and implement new product and/or processes, validate reman feasibility.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, disassembly and parts assessment teams to evaluate and determine the viability of parts for remanufacturing.
  • May perform machining work, as needed, to ensure production requirements are met
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

The Machining Department Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day machining operations while ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets are achieved. The supervisor will drive a forward-thinking culture focused on continuous improvement, problem solving, and development of technicians.

The supervisor will actively identify opportunities to reduce costs, including evaluation of components that can be remanufactured instead of purchased new, and drive implementation of those initiatives in collaboration with Operations, Engineering and Quality. The ideal candidate brings a strong machining background, and the ability to lead a team through improvement, structure, and accountability.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Other Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixturing, feeds/speeds, and CNC troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.
  • Strong critical thinking with the ability to effectively apply problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and follow written and graphic instructions and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and speak clearly in a group setting and consult with management and team regarding any foreseen issues
  • Strong teamwork mentality with a willingness to work with the team on accomplishing overall department goals

Travel Requirements

Anticipated domestic and international travel is approximately 0 -10% depending on business needs.
