A Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted prior to employment.

This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to one year of full-time professional work providing child welfare services, which may include social, psychological, or correctional counseling, case management, volunteer services coordination for children's programs, or juvenile classification coordination.

Additional Requirements:

  • Completion of a criminal history disclosure form and consent to release records.
  • Supply of fingerprint samples for criminal background checks.
  • Review of status on the Department of Health's vulnerable persons registry.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license in some positions.
  • Successful completion of prescribed training by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services upon appointment.

Overview

Under general supervision, responsible for professional case management work of routine difficulty, providing services to children and their families involved with the child welfare system.

Responsibilities include:

  • Documenting and recording information from interviews and reports.
  • Preparing reports for court proceedings.
  • Participating in court, recruiting foster/adoptive parents, and addressing behavioral issues.
  • Conducting intake interviews, home visits, and assessments.
  • Scheduling and coordinating visits and services, including transport.
  • Making decisions regarding safety, reunification, or termination of parental rights.
  • Monitoring placements and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Building collaborative teams and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Using computer systems and software for documentation and communication.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computer programs and office equipment.
