Job description

Position Summary

The Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) Supervisor provides direct clinical and administrative supervision to the DCR team and supports the delivery of high-quality, legally compliant crisis evaluation, crisis intervention, and Involuntary Treatment Investigation services. The DCR Supervisor oversees DCR coverage, monitors service delivery and documentation, supports staff training and development, and ensures DCR practice aligns with agency standards, funder requirements, applicable contracts, RCWs, WACs, and DCR protocols. When needed, the DCR Supervisor will also provide direct clinical services as a DCR.

Responsibilities

Administrative Activities

• Assists in establishing, updating, implementing, and overseeing standards and procedures for DCR service delivery


• Attends community meetings related to DCR service delivery as needed


• Oversees the DCR schedule directly or through designee to ensure DCR coverage is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week


• Assists with case record reviews for quality, timeliness, legal sufficiency, and appropriateness of service delivery


• Works with Clinical Utilization System Manager and clinical leadership to ensure quality clinical services are provided and to ensure clinical documentation completed by staff meets agency and funder requirements and timelines


• Attends or facilitates staff meetings as required

Staff Supervision

• Supervises assigned DCRs by providing regularly scheduled individual and group supervision, clinical observation and consultation, and review of crisis evaluations and clinical documentation


• Ensures staff performance meets agency productivity and documentation requirements


• Supports the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of DCR staff


• Provides on-the-job training and facilitates other staff development opportunities to strengthen DCR knowledge, clinical judgment, legal decision-making, teamwork, documentation quality, and crisis response practice


• Completes introductory and annual staff performance evaluations


• Collaborates with Human Resources to develop and implement staff corrective action plans to address performance concerns when indicated


• Works collaboratively with behavioral health and crisis leadership to increase clinician knowledge, understanding, and commitment to effective teamwork in accordance with agency standards


• Reviews and approves employee timecards and leave requests

Direct Clinical Services

• Serves as DCR when needed due to call volume or staffing gaps


• Maintains ability to respond to DCR coverage and crisis service needs as required by program operations


• Perfom other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Physical Requirements

This position normally requires physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting, or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time. Position also requires ability to drive with adequate vision and skill.

Education

• Master's degree in social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related field leading to eligibility for clinical licensure required

Experience

• Experience as a DCR working in a community mental health setting with individuals experiencing serious mental illness, substance use concerns, co-occurring disorders, or acute behavioral health crisis required


• One year of experience providing direct supervision, clinical supervision, or related on-the-job education preferred


• Experience reviewing clinical documentation for quality, compliance, and legal sufficiency preferred


• Training in working with special populations, including children, families, adults, and older adults preferred


• Training in evidence-based or best-practice crisis intervention approaches preferred

Special Skills

• Knowledge of DCR functions, protocols, related RCWs & WACs, professional ethics, consumer rights, and clinical/legal/forensic requirements related to involuntary treatment investigations in Washington State


• Ability to provide sound clinical consultation and supervision in high-risk crisis situations


• Possess and utilize effective verbal and written communication skills, including clear clinical documentation and professional communication with system partners


• Ability to be self-motivated, professional, work independently, work as a team member, and promote a positive work environment


• Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner with hospitals, courts, law enforcement, behavioral health providers, community partners, and the public.


• Good understanding of Catholic Charities guidelines, policies, and procedures


• Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish preferred

Licensure, Registration, Certification

• License or credential that denotes MHP (Mental Health Professional) designation in the State of Washington, including Mental Health Counselor or Associate (LMHC or LMHCA), Independent Clinical Social Work or Associate (LICSW or LICSWA), Marriage & Family Therapist or Associate (LMFT or LMFTA), or Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor (LAAC)


• Current DCR designation in Chelan and Douglas Counties or ability to obtain DCR designation within the timeframe required by the agency and applicable state standards


• Meet eligibility requirements for, or have current credential as, an Approved Clinical Supervisor preferred.


• First Aid/CPR certification


• Valid driver's license and minimum required liability insurance for Washington State


• Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities' liability insurance provider

Employment is conditional upon:

• Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required

Work Schedule

Work Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week, which includes a rotating schedule of days, evenings, overnights and weekends

Wage Range: $97,520-$108,120 depending on education & experience

Bonus: an earned bonus of $10,000 after 6 months, $10,000 at 1 year anniversary, and $10,000 at 2 year anniversary for a total earned bonus of $30,000
