Job summary

Edison Smart® is seeking an on-site controls quality lead for a Data Center Developer on new builds. You will ensure BMS, EPMS, PLC and SCADA systems are installed, programmed and commissioned to client standards.

This hands-on leadership role blends field inspection with stakeholder and contractor management, driving quality assurance and consistent application of the DIV25 specification.

Qualifications

• Requires strong knowledge of building management systems (BMS), EPMS, PLC and SCADA.
• Experience leading field teams and coordinating with GC/CSI contractors.
• Ability to enforce standards and drive continuous improvement across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• System integrator oversight across all phases, including calibrations and QA.
• Project leadership: onboard and lead GC BMS Leads, CSIs and controls contractors; review terms.
• Quality assurance and standardisation: inspect wiring, front ends, alarms, trends; close deficiencies.
• Risk and continuous improvement: identify architecture risks and drive tooling integration.
• Documentation and issue management: own issues from identification to closure; manage RFIs.
• Site and field activity: conduct regular site visits; provide hands-on commissioning support.

Job description

Locations: Salt Lake CIty, Phoenix, Atlanta, Turkey(Texas)

You will be the on-site controls quality lead for a Data Center Developer on new data center builds, making sure BMS, EPMS, PLC and SCADA systems are installed, programmed and commissioned to the client standards.

Working alongside internal teams, general contractors and system integrators, you will provide technical oversight from design through commissioning and turnover. You will enforce the DIV25 specification, drive consistency across buildings and contractors, and elevate controls risks through to the clients project leadership.

This is a hands-on leadership role: part field inspection and troubleshooting, part stakeholder and contractor management.

Key responsibilities:

System integrator oversight

• Support selection, evaluation and commercial review of GC system integrators (CSI) and controls contractors
• Manage CSI performance across all phases, including calibrations, QA and escalated issues
• Act as the primary escalation point for integrator quality concerns and drive them to closure

Project leadership:

• Onboard and lead GC BMS Leads, CSIs and E&I controls contractors
• Support review of commercial terms and conditions
• Coordinate factory-installed controls audits on packaged equipment and BMS commissioning audits, tracking deficiencies to completion
• Run large multi-stakeholder meetings and weekly cross-functional (XFN) meetings
• Ensure project adherence to the current DIV25 specification and all design deliverables

Quality assurance and standardisation:

• Drive consistency across buildings, integrators and installers in line with QTS standards
• Inspect BMS, PLC and SCADA wiring, installation and commissioning; validate status and progress
• Ensure quality of BMS and SCADA front ends: graphics, alarms and trends
• Provide on-site Cx support, including vendor calibrations and witness testing
• Support the benchmark and mock-up process
• Work with CMs and GCs to build and maintain logical schedules for all controls activities

Risk and continuous improvement:

• Identify and mitigate controls architecture risks, including single points of failure and redundancy
• Support custom tooling and its integration into construction processes
• Use project data to identify early finish dates for detailed design delivery

Documentation and issue management:

• Own issues from identification to closure, documented and tracked
• Support RFI creation, tracking and timely closure
• Communicate controls issues and resolutions to all stakeholders

Site and field activity:

• Carry out regular site visits to assess installation quality, Cx progress and integrator performance
• Provide hands-on support with installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of BMS, PLC and SCADA
