Job summary

Grainger is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our onsite Distribution Center in Fountain Inn, SC. You will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on automated material handling systems to ensure smooth operations.

The role requires working with conveyors, PLCs, drives, and control networks, with on-call rotation and strict safety protocols. Qualifications include a high school diploma, 5+ years in maintenance (2+ years with Dematic or similar conveyors), PLC and CMMS experience, and the

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of building and equipment maintenance with two years maintaining Dematic or similar conveyor systems.
  • 2+ years of experience with AC drives (setup, programming, faults).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft and CMMS programs.
  • Experience with power distribution, power generation, control circuits, electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools, calipers, and gauges.
  • Experience reading and interpreting Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEO) drawings and schematics.
  • Can frequently lift, push, and slide packages typically weighing 50-75 lbs.
  • Successful completion of Maintenance skill evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Technicians complete preventive maintenance tasks and routine repairs on automated material handling system components to support the goals of the Distribution Center.
  • Respond to system issues involving conveyors, PIE, sortation and controls (EMS, WCS, Sort Director, EWM, Hardware, and Software).
  • Basic troubleshooting/diagnostic and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control system components of the conveyor system and building components, including PLCs, DC drivers, AC inverters, linear motors, VFDs, encoders, scanners, power distribution, communication systems, CMMS.
  • Be a subject matter expert for conveyors, cross belt system, Dematic Multi Shuttle System/Goods to Person System.
  • Operate all material handling and mobile equipment within the Distribution Center.
  • Work at heights and in unusual positions.
  • Must be available for 24-hour on-call rotation.
  • Knowledge and application of safe work practices, lockout/tagout (LOTO) standards and Arc Flash.
  • Follow codes, such as the NEC, BOCA and UBC, MSDS and OSHA.
  • Design, implement, and document PLC (Siemens, Allen Bradley) programming changes to automated equipment when authorized.
  • Troubleshoot, and implement changes to I/O device networks such as Probus, Data Highway, and CanBus.

Compensation:

This position is hourly, and the starting pay rate is $25/hour. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to $ $0.00 or %, based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.
