Job summary

Grainger is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on automated material handling systems at the Fountain Inn distribution center. You will report to a Facilities Supervisor and work with conveyors, PIE, sortation, and control systems to keep operations running smoothly.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in maintenance with conveyor experience, AC drive know‑how, and proficiency in CMMS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of building and equipment maintenance with two years maintaining Dematic or similar conveyor systems.
• 2+ years of experience with AC drives (set-up, programming, faults).
• Experience with power distribution, electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools, calipers, and gauges.
• Experience reading and interpreting Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEO) drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain preventive maintenance on automated material handling system components to support the Distribution Center.
• Respond to system issues involving conveyors, PIE, sortation, and controls.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system components, including PLCs and drives.
• Be a subject matter expert for conveyors, cross belt systems, and Dematic/Multi Shuttle/ Goods‑to‑Person systems.
• Operate all material handling and mobile equipment within the Distribution Center.
• Work at heights and in unusual positions; on‑call rotation available.
• Apply safe work practices and follow LOTO, NEC, BOCA, UBC, MSDS, and OSHA codes.
• Design, implement, and document PLC programming changes to automated equipment where authorized.
• Troubleshoot and modify I/O networks (Profinet, Data Highway, CAN Bus).

Compensation:

This position is hourly, and the starting pay rate starts at $27.45/hour. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to $ $0.00 or %, based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

Responsibilities:

Maintenance Technicianscomplete preventive maintenance tasks and routine repairs on automated material handling system components to support the goals of the Distribution Center.You will report to aFacilitiesSupervisor.

Additionalresponsibilities include:

Respond to system issues involving conveyors, PIE,sortationand controls (EMS, WCS, Sort Director, EWM, Hardware, and Software)

Basic troubleshooting/diagnostic and repairofmechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control system components of the conveyor system and building components, including PLCs, DC drivers, AC invertors,linear motors, VFDs,encoders,scanners,powerdistribution, communication systems,computer-controlledbuilding systems, conveyor systems and maintenance management system (CMMS)

Be a subject matter expert for conveyors, cross belt system, Dematic Multi Shuttle System/Goods to Person System

Operate all material handling and mobile equipment within the Distribution Center

Work at heights and in unusual positions

Must be available for 24-hour on-callrotation

Knowledge and application of safe work practices,lockout/tagout (LOTO)standards and Arc Flash

Followcodes,such as the NEC,BOCAand UBC, MSDS and OSHA

Design, implement, and document PLC (Siemens, Allen Bradley) programming changes to automated equipment whenauthorized

Troubleshoot, and implement changes to I/O device networks such as Probus, Data Highway, andCanBus

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

5+years of building and equipment maintenance with two years maintaining Dematic or similar conveyorsystems

2+ years of experience with AC drives (set-up, programming, faults)

Familiaritywith Microsoftand CMMS programs

Experience with power distribution, power generation, control circuits,electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools, calipers, and gauges

Experience reading and interpreting Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEO) drawings andschematics

Canfrequentlylift, push, and slide packages typicallyweighing50-75lbs.

Successful completion of Maintenance skill evaluation
