Job summary

Essenti Talent is assisting a leading international AmLaw 50 firm recruiting a Privacy Associate Attorney for its Washington, DC office. You will join the Cybersecurity, Privacy & Data Protection Practice Group to advise clients on evolving data protection laws and regulatory compliance while handling cross-border matters.

The role requires a JD from a top-tier law school, DC bar admission, and 1–3 years of privacy experience.

Qualifications

• JD from a top-tier law school with excellent academic record.
• Active Bar Admission in Washington, DC (or eligibility to waive into the D.C. Bar), in good standing.
• 1–3 years of substantive privacy, cybersecurity, or data protection experience.
• Experience advising clients on privacy compliance, data protection, and related regulatory matters.
• Familiarity with U.S. privacy laws and regulations, including state privacy frameworks and federal requirements.
• Exposure to international privacy laws and cross-border compliance preferred.
• Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
• Exceptional written communication abilities with client-facing advice and regulatory analyses.
• Comparable law firm experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on privacy compliance, data governance, and data protection requirements across industries.
• Assist clients with regulatory compliance involving U.S. and international privacy frameworks.
• Conduct privacy and cybersecurity due diligence in corporate and commercial transactions.
• Draft, review, and update privacy policies, data processing agreements, and related documentation.
• Support clients with cybersecurity preparedness, incident response, investigations, and risk-management initiatives.
• Monitor legal developments and provide guidance on emerging privacy and cybersecurity requirements.
• Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas on regulatory, transactional, and advisory matters.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $225,000-$260,000 annually, as determined by experience and market factors
