Job summary

Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA seeks an experienced technician to install, repair, and maintain high-precision DC power sources for accelerator magnets. You will work with AC-DC and DC-DC gear, perform test setups, and document procedures.

Five-plus years in electrical work, soldering, and harness fabrication are required; on-call and occasional shift work may be required. Associate's degree or equivalent military training preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years relevant experience
• Experience making wire harnesses and fabricating chassis
• Experience soldering wires and electronic components
• Experience using test equipment like oscilloscope, function generator, multimeters

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion hardware
• Work on equipment up to 2kV and 5kA per safety standards
• Write fabrication and testing procedures
• Perform test setups on medium and high voltage power supplies
• Ensure peak efficiency with minimal interruptions via testing and corrective procedures
