Job summary

Hearst Television in Washington, D.C. seeks a News Producer to deliver national political stories with local relevance across broadcast and digital platforms. You will plan coverage, coordinate with stations, and produce content while collaborating with bureau journalists, photographers and technical teams.

You will write, edit and adapt material with editorial judgment for timely, accurate reporting and work within deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of local TV newsroom experience or equivalent deadline-driven journalism experience.
• Strong writing and copy-editing abilities for broadcast and digital.
• Ability to make sound editorial decisions during breaking news.
• Experience collaborating with reporters, photographers, producers and newsroom partners.
• Military experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily and breaking-news coverage and coordinate with station newsrooms.
• Live production and logistics management to meet deadlines.
• Write, edit and adapt content for broadcast and multiplatform use.
• Use reporting, data and resources from Hearst teams to strengthen coverage.
• Employ AI-enabled tools to improve workflow while verifying facts and sourcing.
