Job summary

Holland & Knight is seeking a Government Intern based in our Washington, D.C. office. The internship is structured around the academic semester and summer schedule and is paid.

Interns work 18–30 hours per week and participate in hearings, research, memos, and client presentations within the Government Group. The program emphasizes hands-on experience in government processes, support for the lobbying practice, and opportunities to interact with senior professionals.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong writing skills are an essential requirement.
  • Applied understanding of executive and legislative branch processes will be valuable.
  • Experience or a previous internship in government sector is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct substantive issue research.
  • Attend congressional and executive branch agency hearings.
  • Draft memorandums.
  • Prepare presentations for client meetings.
  • Provide general administrative support to our Washington, DC-based lobbying practice group.
  • Participate in meetings with the firm's senior personnel to discuss their practices, backgrounds, and experiences.
