Job summary

Advance Auto Parts is seeking a Distribution Center General Manager (GM2) in Thomson, GA to lead a high-performing, fully automated DC that supports timely delivery to retail locations. You will oversee a team of ~20 managers and up to 300 team members, driving safety, engagement, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.

Job DescriptionReports To: VP, DC OperationsBenefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus 401KTravel: 10%-20%Position SummaryThe Distribution Center General Manager (GM2) is responsible for leading a high-performing, fully automated distribution center that supports the timely and accurate delivery of auto parts and accessories to Advance Auto Parts retail locations. This highly visible leadership role requires a strategic, hands-on leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale operations, developing talent, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced, automated environment.The GM will oversee a team of approximately 20 managers and up to 300 team members, ensuring operational excellence, safety, and a culture of engagement and accountability.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide overall leadership, direction, and strategic oversight for all distribution center operations.Build and develop a high-performing leadership team through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.Ensure operational efficiency and accuracy in handling a large and diverse SKU base, including both high- and low-velocity items.Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including store teams, District Leaders, and Regional Vice Presidents.Oversee the implementation and optimization of advanced sorting and material handling systems.Monitor and enforce compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.Set clear goals and performance expectations for teams and individuals, and ensure alignment with broader organizational objectives.Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to ensure alignment and operational clarity.Qualifications & RequirementsExperience:7–10 years of senior leadership experience in a distribution center or supply chain operations.Proven experience managing automated facilities and large SKU inventories.Demonstrated success in leading large teams in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.Technical Skills:Proficiency with Red Prairie WMS or similar warehouse management systems.Familiarity with advanced sorting and handling equipment.Hands-on experience with warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks).Education:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred.Other Requirements:Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.Willingness to perform and understand all roles within the distribution center.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
