Job summary

Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) in Washington, DC, seeks a field investigator to enforce the DC animal cruelty code, investigate neglect and cruelty complaints, and interact with residents. You will collect evidence, coordinate veterinary exams, and testify in court to help protect animals.

You must have a high school diploma or GED and two years of experience in animal welfare or law enforcement; completion of HRA basic training is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience in animal control/welfare, law enforcement, or humane investigations.
• Must successfully complete HRA basic training program.

Responsibilities

• Enforces DC animal cruelty code and investigates complaints.
• Collects and preserves evidence, including witness statements and photographs.
• Coordinates veterinary examinations for seized animals.
• Drafts affidavits and testifies in court on animal cruelty cases.
• Provides daily care to animals housed in HRA facilities.
• Collaborates with local law enforcement and community groups.
