Job summary

Everts Air Cargo is seeking a First Officer based in Anchorage to support flight operations under the supervision of the Chief Pilot. The successful candidate will operate as a trusted member of the flight crew, following company procedures and FAA regulations to ensure safe, efficient flights.

The position is Regular Full-Time with hourly compensation. The First Officer will primarily assist the captain, manage navigation and communications, and help with checklists, preflight duties, and cargo

Qualifications

  • Current First-Class FAA Medical Certificate required.
  • Restricted FCC radio permit is required.
  • Minimum flight time: 2000 total, 500 MEL, 500 Jet or Turboprop.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure legally proficient and adequately rested before flight.
  • Carry current airway and airport charts for the route to be flown and verify before departure.
  • Assist the captain in preflight preparation as necessary.
  • Perform a visual inspection of the airplane prior to departure.
  • Assist the captain on all checklists.
  • Make routine radio contacts and position reports as pilot monitoring.
  • Assume secondary responsibilities of the captain as needed.
  • Assist with passenger operations and cargo handling as required.

Education

Current First-Class FAA Medical Certificate
Restricted Radio Telephone Operators Permit (FCC)
2000 hours total time, 500 MEL, and 500 Jet or Turboprop
Current U.S. Passport
Able to obtain airport security clearance

Job Summary

The first officer is administratively responsible to the Chief Pilot. However, they are functionally responsible to the captain of the flight to which he is assigned. The first officer shall be familiar with and follow instructions contained in the manuals, flight procedures, letters of instructions, operations bulletins, and other instructions pertinent to his duties. The first officer will safely operate the aircraft in accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations, company policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Upon assignment of the flight, ensure that he/she is legally proficient and adequately rested.
  • To possess the current airway and airport charts for the route to be flown and verify this prior to departure.
  • Aiding the captain in the preflight preparation as necessary.
  • Making a visual inspection of the airplane prior to departure.
  • Aiding the captain on all checklists.
  • Making all normal radio contacts and position reports when he/she is the pilot monitoring.
  • Assuming secondarily all responsibilities of the captain.
  • Performing such other duties as directed by the captain.
  • For passenger operations, assist the flight attendant in escort, enplaning and deplaning of passengers as necessary.
  • Fuel servicing must be monitored and supervised by the first officer, Everts Air Cargo mechanic, or another authorized person.
  • Cargo loading must be supervised by the first officer or another authorized person.

a.Items to be monitored are proper securing of the cargo, evidence of damage to cargo loading system or aircraft structure.

b.When loading and securing are accomplished by qualified personnel, the first officer will, to the extent possible, verify that the load is consistent with the load schedule and properly secured.

c.The first officer will assist in securing cargo.

d.When loading (or unloading) is performed by other than EAC personnel, the first officer will observe and assist to ensure that cargo loaded is conforming to the load plan, that the cargo is properly secured, and that neither the aircraft or the cargo is damaged during handling. The captain may assume these duties when directing the first officer to conduct other duties.

  • Audits trip envelope at the completion of a flight or series of flights and ensures all required documents are therein, and initial as required on the envelope checklist.
  • Attends annual recurrent training, completes all assigned Computer Based Training timely and is responsible for maintaining 90-day currency.
