Job summary

Steneral Consulting seeks a Junior to Mid-Level Software Engineer/DBA in Livermore, CA. The role requires 5–15 years of experience, with hybrid onsite work once a week.

You will manage a range of databases on Linux, including Oracle and MS SQL, and automate provisioning, patching, backups, and compliance. You will support cross-platform migrations, cloud transitions, and create non-production environments for development and QA.

Responsibilities

• Provide DBA support for Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB.
• Build and maintain reliable database platforms with monitoring & continuous improvement.
• Automate provisioning, patching, upgrades, backups, and compliance.
• Support design, architecture, migration (cloud, containerization, cross-platform).
• Create/maintain non-production environments for dev/QA.
• Query tuning, data model reviews, performance and cybersecurity enhancements.
• Build dashboards and runbooks; participate in incident reviews.
• Support implementation and customization of enterprise COTS apps.

• Junior to Mid-Level Software Engineer/DBA role (5 15 years of experience required; no senior-level candidates)
• Local candidates only; must be able to work onsite in Livermore, CA once a week (hybrid opportunity)
• Experience with Oracle and MS SQL databases on Linux OS/platform
• Proficiency in Bash, Shell scripting, Python, etc.
• Provide DBA support for multiple database systems: Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB
• Build and maintain reliable database platforms using monitoring and continuous improvement practices
• Automate tasks such as provisioning, patching, upgrades, backups, and compliance
• Support database design, architecture, migration (including cloud, containerization, and cross-platform transitions)
• Create/maintain non-production environments for development and QA
• Perform query tuning, database data model reviews, and enhance application/database performance and cybersecurity
• Build dashboards, alerts, runbooks using logs/metrics, and participate in incident response/post-incident reviews
• Support implementation, configuration, triage, and customization of enterprise COTS applications
