Job summary

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Database Administrator III located onsite in Plano, TX and Jersey City, NJ. This 6+ month contract offers long-term potential and requires strong DB2 for z/OS experience and on-call support.

The role focuses on performance tuning, log management, security (RACF/ACF2), and DR testing, with opportunities to collaborate across DB2 teams and application groups. Competitive pay and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with DB2 for z/OS and replication products (Qrep, SQLrep, CDC).
• Experience in software installation, version upgrades, and disaster recovery testing.
• Participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation and off-hours support.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Working knowledge of RACF, TCP/IP, and network certificates.
• Familiarity with CICS, IMS, MQ and related mainframe subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Develop log scraping strategies to limit CPU, memory, and staging space.
• Build client dashboards to monitor the DB2 environment.
• Collaborate with DB2 teams to establish log retention policies.
• Translate business requirements into physical data models with performance focus.
• Define and implement application-specific backup and recovery strategies.
• Provide performance tuning recommendations with development teams.
• Monitor exception reports to ensure a stable production environment.
• Participate in DBA on-call rotation including Sev1 support.
• Support audits and control assessments, ensuring timely deliverables.
