- Evaluate and recommend appropriate indexing strategies, table structures, and database design changes.
- Partner with application developers to troubleshoot database and SQL-related performance issues.
- Support deployment of application changes by reviewing database impacts, SQL, tables, indexing, and overall performance considerations.
- Perform problem analysis and resolution related to DB2 databases and the mainframe environment.
- Participate in an after-hours/on-call production support rotation as needed.
- Support ongoing modernization efforts as applications gradually transition from the mainframe to distributed environments.
Required Qualifications:
- Significant hands-on experience administering IBM DB2 on z/OS in a production mainframe environment.
- Strong understanding of z/OS mainframe architecture and DB2 systems administration.
- Experience managing DB2 databases, tables, indexes, utilities, and database environments.
- Experience with JCL and mainframe batch processing.
- Strong SQL skills, including SQL review, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and query optimization.

- Experience supporting application development teams from a database perspective.
- Experience with DB2 upgrades, maintenance, monitoring, and related database administration tools.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of a mature production database environment.
- Dependable and comfortable supporting business-critical production systems.
