Portage Township Schools in Portage, Indiana is hiring a Daytime Custodian/Groundskeeper to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming school environment. This full‑time position supports custodial operations for the assigned building and outdoor areas, performing routine cleaning, groundskeeping and light maintenance duties.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch. Starting date is immediate and the role requires physical effort, ability to lift up to 50 lb

Qualifications

• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Mowing responsibilities: push mower and weed eater in areas not accessible by tractor; trim edges.
• Weeding flower beds, signage areas and mulched zones on a regular basis.
• Snow removal using a tractor and shovels; apply salt as needed.
• Clean, dust mop, scrub and wax floors; operate floor scrubber and buffer.
• Check entrances/exits and ensure security of doors and windows.
