Job summary

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department is seeking a Maintenance & Operations Technician to support the Greenway Team across urban trails in Mecklenburg County. You will assist with daily upkeep, trash pickup, graffiti removal, trail maintenance and signage cleaning.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of related experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and basic computer skills. Daytime hours and occasional weekend work may be required to meet community needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience related to the area of assignment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• General knowledge of applicable computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform setup, breakdown, and cleaning during events.
• Maintain restrooms and rental facilities with routine cleaning.
• Remove limbs and debris; clear mud and water from greenway tunnels after storms and mow/trim ballfields.
• Assist in minor repairs along the greenways and perform field maintenance tasks.
• Operate power mowers, chainsaws, brush cutter, edger, clippers and power washers as needed.
• Open park gates and remove trash; assist repair technicians as required.
• May lead a small work crew or supervise volunteers as needed.
