Job description

To keep the learners safe at all times; must be familiar with all emergency procedures and aware of special conditions for the learners within the school.

Communicate to the Director any challenges, concerns, and solutions you may have.

Help provide and maintain an environment in which the learner may grow physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially.

Prepare engaging, hands-on lesson plans that encourage growth and that go along with monthly and weekly themes.

Responsible for schedules and procedures for your classroom. Learning experiences should be consistent and follow the order of the unit/theme.

The teacher must follow a posted schedule and utilize the Early Learning Coalition Assessment checklist to ensure all required areas are being met.

Remember that each learner is an individual whose talents, interests, and pace of learning differ.

Treat the learner with dignity and respect while encouraging independence.

Implement the school’s chosen behavioral system consistently and fairly.

Maintain a professional attitude at all times.

Keep rooms neat, orderly, and clean.

Attend all staff meetings and school programs.

Participate in recommended training programs and courses—complete 25 hours of in-service annually between July 1 and June 30.

Conduct parent conferences as needed. See the Director beforehand to review what will be discussed.

Be loyal to the school at all times.

Lead by example – Training up assistants to take lead roles and make our school stronger.
