Job summary

CJE SeniorLife in Evanston, IL seeks a dependable transportation driver to transport clients using agency vehicles during weekday hours. This on-site role covers daytime routes and requires careful adherence to safety protocols and passenger service standards.

You will operate paratransit vehicles, assist passengers, complete logs, and maintain vehicle safety. A valid IL driver's license, DOT/compliance, and CPR/First Aid certification are required. Union membership is a condition of employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license with MVR review.
• Must meet CJE Driver Evaluation Policy.
• DOT medical exam requirements on hire.
• Compliance with federal drug and alcohol testing.
• Ability to remain patient and work effectively under stress.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Drive CJE vehicles, including paratransit, per scheduled routes and laws.
• Operate vehicle lifts and safety equipment properly.
• Drive safely in daylight, evenings and changing weather.
• Assist passengers boarding/exiting and with belongings.
• Secure passengers and mobility devices with seat belts and restraints.
• Maintain logs: schedules, mileage, inspections and passenger sign-ins.
• Report to management and attend transportation coordination meetings.
• Communicate with passengers and office staff, provide attentive service.
• Keep vehicles clean and report needed repairs.
• Transport agency staff on agency business as directed.
