Job summary

The Center for Learning and Belonging in Irwin, PA is seeking a Daycare Teacher to provide a safe, engaging learning environment for young children. You will use creative activities and read stories to help children learn and grow, and you may take part in projects to bring home for families.

Responsibilities include guiding daily activities, helping children onto and off the school bus, ensuring meals and hygiene, and collaborating with a supportive team that welcomes new ideas.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 2,500 hours of verifiable employment with children or two years of related experience.
  • Must pass extensive background checks and child abuse clearances before contact with children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist daily program activities under supervisor guidance.
  • Coordinate daily group activities and supervise bus drop-offs/pickups.
  • Assist daycare aides and support children’s well-being.
  • Ensure hygiene, change diapers as needed, and clean interactive areas.
  • Prepare snacks and meals for children.
  • Attend and participate in regular team meetings.
  • Perform related duties to support the Center’s operations.

Daycare Teacher – Irwin, PA

The Center for Learning and Belonging is seeking a Daycare Teacher who wants to make a big impact in the lives of young children we are proud to care for each and every day.

*This is not a seasonal position. We do not hire for summer only. Must be able to work 9am-6pm M-F.

As a Daycare Teacher you will make sure our young children have a safe and fun learning environment at the Center for Learning and Belonging. You will use creative and educational activities to engage our children to learn and grow. You have the opportunity to play with our children during free time, read stories, and help with projects to bring home for the fridge. You will ensure that they get safely onto and off of the school bus each day. As a Daycare teacher you will also make sure our children have healthy meals and snacks as well as a clean and safe place for them to spend their days. You will be an important part of a thriving and collaborative team that is always open to new ideas.

Responsibilities of a Daycare Teacher
  • Assists with the implementation of daily program activities under the guidance of the director and group supervisor.
  • Coordinates daily group activities.
  • Assists daycare aides.
  • Assists with maintaining the well‑being of children under their care.
  • Ensure children get safely onto and off of the school bus at the beginning and end of each day.
  • Monitors children to ensure they play and interact with one another in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Ensure children have good hygiene and changes diapers as needed.
  • Cleans interactive areas throughout the day.
  • Prepares snacks and meals for children.
  • Attends and participates in daily/weekly/monthly team meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Center of Learning and Belonging.
Qualifications Needed for a Daycare Teacher
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required and 18 years of age or older.
  • 2 years of verifiable employment or minimum of 2,500 hours of verifiable employment experience with children. You will be asked to contact previous work experience for verification of hours.
  • Must be able to pass extensive criminal background checks and child abuse clearances before routine contact with children:
    • PA Child Abuse History Clearance
    • NSOR Verification
    • Out-of-State Clearances (if applicable)
    • Signed Disclosure Statement for Child Care Employment
    • Either:
      • PA State Police Criminal History Clearance OR
      • FBI Criminal History Clearance
  • Valid CPR upon hire is preferred but not required. We will provide CPR training upon orientation.
  • Must be able to play with children in various ways including standing, kneeling, and playing on the floor.
  • Must be able to move up to fifty (50) pounds.
