The Goddard School located in Chicago (South Loop), IL 60616, is looking for motivated self-starters for multiple positions as Daycare Teachers at our new preschool for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. Our state-of-the-art facility is expanding in the South Loop neighborhood of downtown Chicago, just blocks from CTA and Metra Electric stations.

Qualifications:

An Assistant Teacher must meet the following qualifications:

• Ability to understand and support the education program using the “learning through play” philosophy.
• Ability to interact closely with children at their level, with sight and sound supervision at all times.
• Capability to change children’s diapers and assist with toileting as needed.
• Effective and professional communication with school personnel, children, and parents.
• Ability to handle crisis situations, including evacuation procedures during emergencies.
• Capability to safely walk children between rooms, playgrounds, or outdoor areas.
• Willingness to clean and sanitize surfaces and learning materials regularly and as needed.
• Ability to supervise children actively during nap times.
• Ability to obtain resources to support the learning environment in classrooms.
• Proficiency in using iPads to assist teachers with daily reports.

Assistant Teacher must meet one of the following educational requirements:

• High School Diploma with at least 12 credits in Early Childhood Development or a related field.
• A Child Development Certificate or higher is preferred.

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Teacher’s responsibilities include supporting the lead teacher in implementing classroom activities, including but not limited to:

• Cleaning and sanitizing
• Active supervision of children
• Assisting with resources and materials
• Helping with food distribution
• Completing opening and closing checklists
• Maintaining classroom equipment in good repair
• Understanding and implementing emergency procedures
• Promoting healthy eating during lunch and snacks
• Ensuring compliance with state ratio requirements
• Performing minor cleaning tasks immediately and major cleaning during non-activity times
• Adhering to The Goddard School’s behavior policies
• Modeling empathetic and respectful behavior towards others and the environment
• Respecting cultural and ethnic diversity
• Promoting the “learning through play” philosophy and educational objectives.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 2 PM to 6 PM
• Work hours: 10 to 20 hours per week

Must be vaccinated. In-person work location.
