Job summary

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, VA seeks a full-time Certified Surgical Assistant I to support the surgical team during day shifts. You will anticipate needs, set up tables, assist surgeons with intraoperative tasks, and participate in pre- and postoperative duties to ensure optimal patient care.

Requires a trade school diploma as Surgical Assistant, Virginia license as Licensed Surgical Assistant, CSA, CSFA, BLS; one year OR experience preferred; hospital benefits

Qualifications

• Trade School Graduate – Surgical Assistant
• Licensed Surgical Assistant – Virginia
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) – NCCSA
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) – NBSTSA
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA

Responsibilities

• Selecting equipment and setting up operating tables
• Positioning equipment and providing retraction for visualization of the surgical site
• Cauterizing bleeding vessels
• Suturing and closing incisions
• Instilling medications
• Applying surgical dressings, splints, and casts
• Performing pre-operative and post-operative duties
• Using interdisciplinary communication to support optimal patient outcomes
