Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech (CRCST/CBSPD) for a day shift in Newark. The role involves cleaning, sterilizing, inspecting, and preparing surgical instruments and devices, with duties spanning receipt of instruments to case cart preparation.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and CBSPD/CRCST certification, with grandfathering for those already employed. This part-time role offers growth within a supportive team and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Sterile Processing Technician Certification CBSPD/CRCST required. Individuals that were employed prior to requirements will be grandfathered.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and decontaminates surgical instruments and other medical equipment following established policy and procedure.
• Inspects, assembles, packages and sterilizes medical devices following manufacturer’s recommendations and established procedure.
• Assemble, wrap and label basic and especially specialty instruments and sets for tracking in the CensiTrfac system.
• Receive, unload, sort, inspect, wash and process instruments and equipment for decontamination by manual and automated means.
• Reads, interprets, and records sterilization parameters and completes related records and test results.
• Provide asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays per relevant standards.
• Wrap and label stainless steel items.
• Operate and maintain department equipment per policies.
• Inventory and restock reprocessed sterile items in storage areas.
• Fill Operating Room case cart requisitions for scheduled and add-on cases.
• Unload washer-disinfector racks and place items in designated areas.
• Assist with orientation and training of Sterile Processing Interns
• Maintain a clean and organized work area following housing policy.
• Answer telephone calls as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as required by department
