The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer for the day shift in Toledo, OH. You will safeguard guests, staff and zoo assets, respond to service calls, and conduct patrols to ensure a safe, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work independently and in a team setting.
• Must possess strong communication and exceptional customer service skills.
• Candidates with criminal justice, fire science, and military background are preferred.
• Available to work weekends, holidays, and special events.
• Candidates must be physically able to walk for extended periods.
• Must have a valid drivers' license and insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• The Toledo Zoo is a drug‑free workplace, including marijuana.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring vital systems, responding to service calls, conducting patrols, and assisting with special events.
• Monitoring air and water temperatures at exhibits; overseeing surveillance systems and fire suppression alarms.
• Officers will conduct foot, mobile, and bike patrols to assist guests and staff.
• Additional duties include securing the zoo through lock-ups, cash escorts and medical runs while maintaining accurate security records.
• This position reports to the Vice President of Security and Safety with general oversight by the Security Supervisor.
