Job summary

Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto, CA is seeking an entry-level Respiratory Therapist for a part-time day shift (12-hour) on site at 500 Pasteur Dr. This role performs diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures for adult patients under physician orders, following established protocols.

You will administer inhaled therapies, manage ventilatory support, perform airway clearance, document in the EMR, respond to emergencies, and train staff and students as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have AMA approved Respiratory Care Program with Associate Degree.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Or currently enrolled in AMA RCP.

Responsibilities

• Administration of aerosolized medications (nebulizers, MDI, DPI, LVN), and IPV.
• Administration of medical gases via various delivery devices.
• Perform routine tracheostomy care, weaning, and downsizing.
• Assemble and ensure safety and functioning of all respiratory care equipment.
• Document results and assessments in EMR.
• Airway clearance using CPT, PEP devices, cough assist, or nasotracheal suctioning.
• Assess pulmonary mechanics with portable spirometry.
• Respond to CPCR and rapid response calls.
• Provide respiratory care during emergencies for non-traumatic conditions.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, medications, and disease processes.
• Provide CPAP/BiPAP support for ventilated patients.
• Invasive ventilation for medically stable home users.
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
• Oversee and train staff and students on general medical floors.
