Job summary

Team Industries Inc in Port Arthur, TX is seeking an experienced pipe welder to assemble pipe components, verify joints fit-up, and weld per isometric drawings.

Requirements include 5+ years of welding, ability to pass X-ray, MIG root with down-hill progression, TIG out with uphill progression, and strong reading/measurement skills. Safety-minded, reliable and detail-oriented are essential.

Shift: 1st (6:00AM - 4:30PM, Mon-Thu). After 500 working hours, benefits include health, dental and vision.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years on-the-job welding experience.
• Ability to pass X-Ray and weld multiple processes.
• MIG root with down-hill progression/Flux core fill and cap with up-hill progression.
• TIG out with all passes uphill progression.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively.
• Ability to calculate figures and geometry concepts.
• Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assemble pipe components by tacking them in place prior to welding.
• Confirm squareness and fit-up of joints.
• Verify isometric drawings and dimensions for pipe spools.
• Retrieve materials and ensure correct parts.
• Weld joints and grind out tacks.
• Position pieces for welding and purge pipe as needed.
• Inspect welds and correct if necessary.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow safety procedures.

Job description

This location is in Port Arthur, TX, relocation, or daily commute required.

Location: Port Arthur, TX

After 500 working hours, benefits include: Health, Dental and Vision

Shift: 1st (6:00AM - 4:30PM, Monday - Thursday, 10 hours)

Pay Range: you must have 5 years of pipe welding experience & MUST BE ABLE TO PASS: Testing:2” super coupon 6G Tig all the way out and a 2” super coupon 6G Mig root /Flux fill and cap

Job Description:

• Assemble pipe components by tacking them in place prior to welding.
• Confirming squareness of all joints fit-up.
• Confirming configuration of all joints fit-up.
• Confirming pipe joints are aligned properly (taper bore if necessary).
• Confirming pipe spool is built according to the isometric drawings (center to center or center to end dimensions).
• Verify correct length, material, type, and grade of pipe and fittings prior to tacking.
• Retrieve material and make sure they correspond with parts list.
• Lifting pipe with crane to fit-up bench.
• This job involves a variety of other jobs such as welding, cutting, grinding, measurement, and layout.
• Weld joints.
• Grind out temporary tacks.
• Position pieces to be welded.

Purges pipe to be welded.

• Records filler rod heat numbers.
• Identifies his own welds by etching a weld number next to the joint.
• Inspects weld after and makes any corrections if needed.
• Keep work area clean and organized to prevent slips and trips.
• Conducts work safely and follows all safety procedures. Rejects work that is not safe and discusses the situation with supervisor.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Minimum 5 years on-the-job welding experience
• Ability to pass X-Ray and weld multiple processes.
• Ability to MIG root with down-hill progression/Flux core fill and cap with up-hill progression (6” diameter).
• TIG out with all passes being up-hill progression.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percent, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
