Quad in Hartford is currently seeking Day Shift Part-Time General Laborer employees to grow with us!

This position offers the opportunity to learn the printing process from the ground up and advance in a progressive environment. You will assist in creating various well-known magazines, catalogs, newspaper inserts, and other related products in our Finishing Department. The schedule is a 2-3-2 rotation, with shifts as follows:

  • Tuesday & Wednesday & every other Sunday (7 am - 7 pm)
  • OR
  • Thursday & Friday & every other Sunday (7 am - 7 pm)

Part-time wages start between $16.00 - $17.00 / hour, depending on relevant work experience and employment history.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Remove products from the end of the printing press or finishing machine.
  • Stack products onto pallets, transfer them to tables, and place them into a collator hopper or mail bags.
  • Move products or skids using a hand jack, motorized Raymond (Big Joe) lift, or forklift (training provided).
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members.
  • Assist with duties such as webbing up the press and other handwork to meet customer requests.
  • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Printing, factory, or mechanical work experience is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and write measurements.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Comfort with using computers and touchscreens.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Ability to lift stacks of materials weighing approximately 30-60 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to handle stacks of signatures or bundles weighing 5-75 lbs, transferring them to work surfaces and into hoppers or mail bags.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
