Job summary

The University of Iowa is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Operating Room at the Downtown Campus. This 80% days position supports nursing leadership, patient advocacy, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care.

Qualified applicants may receive a sign-on bonus up to $12,500 based on experience. The role includes OR and inpatient differentials, with a focus on patient-centered care and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing required; Baccalaureate or higher preferred.
• Current Iowa nursing license by date of hire required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration and patient advocacy.
• General computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Incorporates scientific, behavioral and humanistic principles for clinical practice.
• Assess patient care needs and evaluate effectiveness of care provided.
• Provide leadership to nursing team to maintain patient care standards.
• Develops and implements patient care plans across episodes of care.
• Ensures safety and adheres to department policies and procedures.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and research utilization.
