Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalency.
• Two years as cook in a large-scale cooking operation, preferred.
• One year's work experience in long term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to planned menus and recipes, with supervision for changes.
• Review menus and census info to determine quantities.
• Prepare food following safe handling guidelines and codes.
• Assist with ordering, storage and timely preparation of meals.
• Maintain quality and use substitutes as needed; follow recipes.
• Operate kitchen equipment (blenders, mixers, slicers, steamers, ovens, ranges).
• Prepare diet-consistent and special function meals as needed.
• Prepare produce and weigh/meat portions for accuracy.
• Serve attractively with gravies and garnishes; test for palatability.
• Monitor temperatures and record as required.
• Make menu changes under supervision or dietitian approval.
• Follow sanitation, labeling and waste procedures; clean work areas.
• Support meal schedules and assist Dietitian/Manager as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.
