Qualifications

Position Summary

Amerit Fleet Solutions, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the US, is looking to hire a skilled Diesel Technician in Barrington, NJ. The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the repair, troubleshooting, adjustment, and overhaul of heavy-duty diesel trucks and trailers. Some mechanics in this occupation specialize in hydraulic-operated transmissions and attachments, drive trains, tracked vehicle suspensions, and steering.

Vehicle Type: Diesels (Heavy Duty class 8 trucks) - Kenworth, Volvo, Freightliners, Peterbilt, Cummins, CNG Cummins.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to a fleet of light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty trucks. The fleet also includes CAT equipment, generators, aerials, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Perform services and repairs to diesel engines, brakes, tires, AC, and regular PM services as required.
  • Prepare vehicle records and reports both manually and on a computer.
  • Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation as required.
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
  • Inspect and perform work on the under parts of vehicles.
  • Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance.
  • Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles.
  • Interact with clients through both email and phone as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
  • At least 5+ years experience performing vehicle maintenance or must possess an auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school.
  • Experience servicing and repairing CAT equipment, generators, aerials, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment – highly desired.
  • ASE Certifications – preferred.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License - Class C.
  • Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.).
  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle.
  • Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
