Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc is seeking a Machine Operator I - Automated Manufacturing (Day Shift) to safely operate and monitor automated production equipment in a fast-paced facility in Buffalo, NY. Responsibilities include overseeing saws, stackers, ovens/cure processes, conveyors, and automated handling while checking quality and maintaining flow along the line.

The role requires manufacturing experience, reading/completing production docs, basic math, and a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience is required.
• Able to read and follow written/verbal instructions and document production data.
• Basic math and measurement skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor automated production equipment (saws, stackers, ovens/cure, conveyors) per SOPs.
• Monitor HMI/control screens, production setpoints and alarms; adjust as needed.
• Load/unload materials and maintain supplies for continuous production.
• Perform start-up/shutdown and routine equipment checks; document production data.
• Conduct quality inspections and random checks to verify specs.
• Stack, label, and prepare finished product per standards and customer requirements.
• Report issues; partner with Maintenance and Leads for troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area (5S).
• Communicate production status between shifts.
• Participate in safety, continuous improvement and team meetings.
• Assist training of new operators.
