Job summary

CEDARS OF MARIN is seeking a compassionate part-time Garden Instructor to support the Garden Program on Cedars Textile Collaborative property. You will plan and guide engaging gardening activities, including hands-on horticulture projects and community-based work opportunities, helping participants build confidence and independence.

The role requires experience with individuals with developmental disabilities or teaching experience, strong patience, and the ability to lead a team of gardeners.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or teaching experience highly preferred.
• Ability to manage a crew and work with a team of leaders.
• Strong attendance and punctuality and willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
• Driver's license with at least 3 years of driving experience; ability to drive a passenger van.

Responsibilities

• Plan and support meaningful gardening activities with Cedars clients.
• Lead, advise, organize, and motivate groups of gardeners.

Cedars of Marin provides day programs and residential opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. Founded in 1919, our exceptional person-centered programs and services have supported individuals in living creative, productive, joyful, and healthy lives for more than a century.Cedars Textile Collaborative (TAC) offers Cedars clients fun, inspiring, and creative day programs. We are currently looking for a compassionate and skilled part-time Garden Instructor to join our Garden Program!As a Garden Instructor, you will work with Cedars clients to plan and support meaningful gardening activities, including hands-on horticulture projects, community-based work opportunities, and skill-building activities. You will help create an environment where individuals can develop confidence, independence, and a sense of accomplishment through gardening and outdoor projects.The TAC Program is set on more than two dozen acres overlooking San Anselmo. This beautiful, remote property includes a community garden, art barn studio space, upgraded kitchen, weaving studio, and more!This position will require some degree of caregiving, to the extent that a participant requires.The hours are Wednesday and Friday from 8 am – 4 pm. The rate of pay is $21.75 / hour.Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or teaching experiencehighly preferred.The ability to consistently demonstrate patience and compassion.Experience in gardening, landscaping, and yard maintenance.Experience leading, advising, organizing, and motivating groups of people.The ability to manage a crew of gardeners and work with a team of leaders.Excellent attendance and punctuality.Willingness to pitch in when/where needed.Ability to pass an employment physical including a TB test, and to meet the physicalrequirements of the job.Valid DMV driver's license, a minimum of 3 years of driving experience, and a willingness to drive a passenger van.CPR and First Aid certifications or the willingness to acquire both.Ability to pass a criminal background check with the FBI and DOJ.An optimistic outlook is a plus!
