Job summary

Palmers Home Care in Columbia, MO is hiring a Day Program Direct Support Professional to provide on-site supervision and care for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities. The role focuses on developing life and social skills through structured activities and is a full-time, day-shift position with pay of $19.00/hour.

The DSP will support participants with personal care as needed, document progress, and promote independence in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass a Family Care Safety Registry screening.
• Strong work ethic, able to accept supervision and feedback.
• Reliability, punctuality, and scheduling flexibility.
• Interpersonal skills for interaction with individuals served and community.
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs and sit/stand for prolonged periods.
• Valid driver's license with auto insurance; class E license or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision to individuals in a day program.
• Support development of life, social, and vocational skills through structured activities.
• Assist with personal care as needed while maintaining dignity and respect.
• Facilitate group activities, community outings, and skill-building programs.
• Monitor safety, health, and well-being throughout the day.
• Document services, progress, and incidents per program and DMH requirements.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team to support individualized plans.
• Promote independence, inclusion, and positive engagement for all participants.
• Other duties as needed.
