Formación

• HS diploma or GED; Some college preferred.

Day Program Direct Support Professional

Position Overview

Day Program Direct Support Professionals are to supervise as well as encourage the participants to engage in the provided activities at the day program and in the community. Direct Support Professionals are to maintain a safe environment for our participants, the participants around them, ourselves, and the community at large.

Responsibilities

• Engaging participants in meaningful, creative activities designed to enhance their quality of life, expression, coping skills, and more
• Complete daily documentation and tracking of participant activities and progress.
• Supervising and observing participants at all times to ensure their safety and prevent harmful behavior to self and others
• Provide informal counseling as needed
• Teaching problem solving, conflict resolution and life skills
• Transporting participants safely to and from program activities as needed, including and not limited to community outings and to their homes
• Daily participation in community-based outings with participants
• Working collaboratively with participants on projects, respecting individual paces and developmental needs to achieve positive outcomes.
• Learning and using participants’ historical information, behavior plans, and reoccurring trends as a tool to support goal achievement
• Facilitating group discussions, documenting engagement, and providing counseling when necessary. Develop and implement new projects, ideas, tasks, etc. to engage in with participants

Requirements

• HS diploma or GED. Some college preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Compassion plus an ability to set limits and follow through
• Clear Criminal Records Check
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, listen carefully, interpret accurately & respond to a high volume of requests
• Knowledge and sensitivity to cultural differences
• Excellent written and verbal communication skill
• Supportive, kind, caring and willing to ensure environment is respectful and honest
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle high volume of requests effectively
• Transportation Requirement: This position requires transporting clients; therefore, a valid driver's license and a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle are mandatory
