Job summary

The Creamery is seeking a dependable Day Porter to support store operations and ensure a clean, welcoming environment for customers. You will assist with daily tasks, coordinate shifts, and uphold safety and sanitation standards.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma, can lift 50 lbs, and are available for varied schedules including weekends and holidays. English literacy is required to communicate with staff and customers.

Responsibilities

• Function as the go-to resource for day porter staff while on duty.
• Assign tasks to keep the store clean and running smoothly; ensure all tasks are completed by the staff for that day before leaving at night.
• Plan daily schedules and ensure positions are covered throughout the day (scheduled breaks, call-ins).
• Proactively review and monitor store cleanliness and address concerns (appearance, signage).
• Motivate the team during demanding service periods; provide recognition and feedback.

General Purpose

Support Day Porters in their daily routines, ensuring store operations run smoothly and efficiently, and customers have an exceptional shopping experience. Perform a variety of duties including assigning daily tasks and ensuring team members remain on task; observing performance during the shift; make sure work surfaces, floors, walls, tables, and counters are clean and sanitized; emptying bins; and sweeping and mopping floors; ensuring that all closing checklist items have been completed; monitoring for safety; and communicating with the next shift leader to help prepare him/her to run a successful shift.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Plan daily schedules and ensure that positions are covered throughout the day (e.g., scheduled breaks, call-ins)
• Proactively review and monitor the store cleanliness inside and out and address any areas of concerns (e.g., overall cleanliness/store appearance, signage)
• Motivate the team during demanding service periods; provide recognition and constructive feedback throughout the shift as appropriate
• Train and develop new employees; provide coaching for ongoing improvement
• Handle or escalated any store or employee-related issues; document as appropriate for the store manager or store supervisor to review
• Ensure the safety and security of the store by making sure doors are locked and the alarm is set; the store safe is shut and locked
• Act as a role model in representing the company, the team, and themselves
• Perform any of the duties of the Day Porter
• Follow all safety and sanitation procedures

• Clear and wipe down tables
• Clean up spills; sweep and mop floors
• Empty trash bins
• Stock shelves
• Wash dishes, pans and pots and operate the dishwasher machine, as requested
• Follow all safety and sanitation procedures when handling food and working with kitchen equipment
