Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Day Porter to support the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our apartment community. This individual will be responsible not only for maintaining public and shared areas but also for assisting with light maintenance tasks that help keep the property running smoothly.

Ideal Candidate

You’re proactive, take pride in your work, and enjoy creating a clean, welcoming environment. You’re comfortable working independently or occasionally with a team, and you’re always ready to lend a hand with small repair or maintenance tasks as needed.

Core Responsibilities
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain cleanliness of all interior and exterior common areas, including entrances, hallways, vestibules, stairwells, laundry rooms, community rooms, leasing office, public restrooms, and glass surfaces (mirrors, doors, etc.).
  • Sanitize high-touch surfaces such as door handles, handrails, and elevator buttons.
  • Ensure all common areas are tidy, safe, and presentable throughout the day.
  • Pick up litter and debris from sidewalks, landscaping beds, parking areas, and dumpster enclosures.
  • Remove trash from interior receptacles and transport to dumpsters.
  • Sweep walkways, curbs, and outdoor gathering spaces.
  • Help with the cleaning of recently vacated apartments to prepare them for move‑in.
  • Perform simple maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, batteries in smoke detectors, unclogging minor drain blockages, and tightening loose fixtures or doorknobs.
  • Report major issues (plumbing leaks, electrical hazards, appliance failures) to the maintenance team.
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance like snow/ice removal or minor landscaping work as directed.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1+ year of janitorial, porter, or custodial experience preferred.
  • Some basic maintenance knowledge or handyman experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to cleanliness and upkeep.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25–30lbs.
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods, including bending, reaching, and climbing stairs.
  • Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Familiarity with basic cleaning supplies and equipment; understanding of safe chemical usage.
  • Able to communicate clearly in English for safety and resident interaction.
  • Professional, reliable, and courteous when interacting with staff, residents, and vendors.
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
  • Knowledge of basic tools (screwdriver, pliers, plunger, etc.).
  • Understanding of general property maintenance or previous work in residential communities.
  • OSHA safety knowledge or willingness to learn.
