Arc of Onondaga in Syracuse, NY seeks Direct Support Professionals to provide hands-on support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in day habilitation settings. This full-time role involves helping individuals plan activities, develop life skills, and participate in community-based programs.

We value compassion, reliability, and a person-centered approach. Eligible candidates must be 18+, have a high school diploma, and a NY driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• A valid New York State driver’s license is required.
• Compassionate, dependable, and person-centered approach.
• Interest in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and participate in social, recreational, and community activities with individuals.
• Provide care, support, and guidance in program and community settings.
• Support individuals in directing the course of their own lives with advocacy and independence.
• Promote emotional, physical, and personal well‑being of those supported.
• Assist with daily tasks, routines, and activities.
• Help individuals develop life skills, including money management, shopping, and household tasks.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene as needed.
• Build positive, respectful relationships and encourage community participation.
