Job summary

CARES in New York is seeking a DSP/Driver to assist adults with developmental disabilities in day habilitation activities, life skills, outings, and meals. The role includes transporting participants using a company Sprinter van and ensuring safety with another staff member present.

Responsibilities include guiding participants in routines, documenting sessions, and helping with community outings while promoting independence and quality interaction with families and caregivers.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication with internal and external customers.
• Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments.
• Must be 25+ years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• New York State Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Drive company Sprinter van to transport participants safely.
• Assist adults with daily living activities and life skills during Day Hab.
• Support participants with community outings and outings chosen by individuals.
• Complete required documentation for services provided.
• Maintain safety and adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Communicate with participants, parents/guardians, and staff as needed.
