Job summary

Salina Public Schools is seeking a Maintenance/Custodian for South High School. The position runs Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., focusing on cleaning duties and ensuring classrooms, offices, and common areas are well maintained.

The ideal candidate will have prior housekeeping/janitorial experience, be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, and capable of handling cleaning chemicals and equipment safely. Internal applicants only are considered at this time.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Duties: Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to ensure the classrooms, offices, and common areas are in good order on a year-round basis. Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30p.m. Individual must be able to positively interact with constituents (student, faculty, and staff); assist with other duties within the maintenance and operations department as necessary and as needed; must be self-motivated, able to make assessments on the fly with little supervision.

Experience: Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred with specific knowledge in safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment

Specific Skills: Individual must be self-sufficient, responsible, reliable, thorough and take pride in their work. May require lifting items in excess of 50 pounds.

Salary Range: Classified Pay Schedule Range 9: $14.73 to $15.33 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
