Description

The Inclusion Specialist – Camp Nansema supports the North Suburban YMCA's mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Camp Director, the specialist collaborates with camp staff and families to identify and support children needing individualized assistance. The role involves providing direct support, strategies, and serving as a resource for children requiring one-on-one assistance, emphasizing qualities like compassion, open-mindedness, flexibility, and a passion for working with children and families.

Department: Child Development: Day Camp

Location: North Suburban YMCA

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Prioritizing safety and emotional well-being of campers, staff, and families.
  • Modeling YMCA values and developing positive relationships with campers.
  • Planning inclusive recreational and educational activities.
  • Using positive discipline methods and effective communication.
  • Supporting pool activities and lifeguard assistance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining attendance records and monitoring camper needs.
  • Reporting incidents and communicating effectively.
  • Participating in camp activities, meetings, and training.
  • Maintaining camp areas and equipment responsibly.

Work Environment: Moderate to high noise, indoor/outdoor settings, up to 40 hours/week, with sun exposure.

Qualifications: Must be 18+, high school diploma or equivalent, experience preferred, current First Aid, CPR certifications, and commitment to YMCA values.
