Job summary

rabbittransit is seeking a full-time Dispatcher in Harrisburg, PA to help keep our fixed-route and specialized transit services running safely and on time. You will oversee operator shifts, assign drivers, coordinate with maintenance, and communicate in real time with drivers using radios and ITS tools.

Regular DL required and a DOT physical is needed; CDL is not required but a plus. Schedule is Mon–Fri 3 PM–11 PM, with possible coverage beyond these hours to support the department.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, reliable, and timely performance of fixed route or specialized transit systems.
• Oversee operators' shifts and assign drivers to cover schedules as needed.
• Coordinate with maintenance to assign vehicles and communicate with drivers via radios/ITS in real-time.
• Resolve service issues including passenger requests, incidents, route deviations, and emergencies.
• Bridge gaps between people and places by effective online trip management and driver coordination.

A dispatcher's responsibilities include ensuring the safe, reliable and timely performance of the Authority's fixed route or specialized transit systems. Overseeing operators' shifts, assigning drivers to cover schedules as needed, coordinating with maintenance to assign vehicles, using radios and Intelligent Transportation Systems to communicate in real-time with drivers, resolving service issues including passenger requests and incidents, vehicle breakdowns and accidents, emergencies, and route-deviations are all part of the dispatcher's important duties.
