Job summary

Kelly Telecom is seeking Data Center Technicians for a large-scale data center project in Red Oak, TX. Ideal candidates have hands-on fiber optic and structured cabling experience and will interact with customers to provide clear reports and updates.

You will assist with fiber installation, testing, troubleshooting, and migrations across data center environments while following MoPs and vendor docs. This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of experience in data center operations or similar technical environments with direct customer interaction.
• Hands-on fiber optic cabling experience including single-mode and multi-mode fiber and structured cabling.
• Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Strong written and verbal English for customer-facing communications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person, delivering clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities.
• Conduct and supervise optical testing and troubleshooting with OTDRs, power meters, and related tools.
• Deliver services by following MoPs, engineering docs and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and docs to ensure correct port connections and cable management.

Job description

We are hiring multiple Data Center Technicians for a large-scale data center project in Red Oak, TX. This is a great opportunity for technicians with hands-on fiber optic, copper cabling, structured cabling, or data center construction experience.

What you will do:

• Conduct daily audits of work performed at customer data centers and co-locations and provide immediate feedback to 3PP technicians.
• Interact directly with the customer via their ticketing tools or face-to-face, providing clear and concise reports and updates that promote client's value.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities across data center optical and transport environments.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using tools such as optical power meters, stabilized light sources, VFLs, OTDRs, and test sets.
• Deliver services by accurately, interpreting and executing Methods of Procedure (MoPs), engineering documents, vendor documentation, and network diagrams.
• Read and interpret cut sheets and physical network design documents to ensure accurate port connections and cable management.

What we're looking for:

• 3–15 years of experience working in data center operations or a similar technical environment with direct customer interaction.
• Strong hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cabling, including single-mode and multi-mode fiber, LC, fan-outs, and structured cabling.
• Demonstrated experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.
• Strong command of written and verbal English for customer-facing communications and relationship building.
• Excellent organizational, administrative, and documentation skills using customer applications and/or Microsoft Office suite of tools.
• Ability to multitask, remain composed under pressure, and adapt in fast-paced, high-availability environments.
