Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineer for its datacenter infrastructure in San Francisco. The role focuses on establishing and managing a manufacturing-focused quality program, vendor oversight, and process improvements to ensure timely delivery and high reliability of critical systems.

You will lead audits, monitor metrics, and coordinate corrective actions across manufacturing partners, construction teams, and internal stakeholders to meet OpenAI’s exacting standards

Qualifications

• 10+ years in manufacturing quality management, supplier quality, or datacenter engineering/operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, construction management, or related field.
• Proven ability to analyze data, solve problems, and improve manufacturing processes.
• Proven track record managing deliverables for complex projects or supplier programs.
• Strong communication skills with experience influencing both technical and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead vendor audits and monitor performance across production, inspection, testing, and delivery.
• Develop and track quality metrics to assess manufacturing performance and identify trends.
• Coordinate corrective actions to ensure predictable delivery schedules and operational reliability.
• Mentor vendor teams and drive continuous improvement across projects and facilities.
• Establish cross-functional communication between manufacturing sites, construction teams and operations.
