Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Data Engineer to design and build analytics-ready datasets from the VA CDW and other systems. You will work on medallion architecture in Databricks, transform data with PySpark/SQL, and prepare gold-layer datasets for Power BI models.

Responsibilities include managing Databricks jobs, writing efficient SQL, and collaborating with clients, data scientists, and Power BI developers to deliver reliable data products in a fully remote setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 12+ years of data engineering experience preferred.
• Hands-on data pipelines in Databricks (PySpark/SQL) and strong SQL skills.
• Experience with Power BI data preparation for semantic models.
• Familiarity with GitHub and team collaboration tools like JIRA.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) in Databricks.
• Develop and monitor Databricks jobs and pipelines; optimize SQL queries for healthcare data.
• Prepare gold-layer datasets for Power BI semantic models used by stakeholders.
• Collaborate with clients to gather requirements and validate outputs; document data lineage.
