Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking a Databricks Engineer with AWS expertise to design and maintain our enterprise data Lakehouse. You will build high-performance data pipelines, implement real-time reporting, and enable seamless integration between Databricks and core AWS services for trading data consumption.

Responsibilities include optimizing Spark performance, automating deployments, and collaborating with Data Scientists and Risk Managers to deliver clean, business-ready data views for reporting and AI

Qualifications

• Professional experience in architectural design and development within the Databricks platform in an AWS cloud environment.
• CI/CD & DevOps tooling: automated deployments using Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs), Terraform (Databricks & AWS providers), and Git pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or AWS CodePipeline).
• Programming in Python (PySpark) and SQL for data manipulation and transformation.
• Strong understanding of Apache Spark internals, Delta Lake, and streaming data concepts (e.g., MSK or Kafka).
• Experience building production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines, data schema validation, and cleansing raw feeds.
• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional or AWS Certified Data Engineer – Professional is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Databricks data lakehouse pipelines.
• Integrate Databricks with AWS services (S3, Glue, IAM) for secure data flow.
• Tune Spark clusters and optimize Delta Lake storage.
• Develop automated Databricks deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with data scientists and risk managers to deliver analytics-ready data.
• Ensure data governance and security using Unity Catalog or cloud controls.
